no dash lights on 88 90s

Hi there,

I lost my instrument lights (only in the gauges but all of those) from one
day to the next, changed the fuse which was not burnt to no avail.
Before I pull the dash apart, does anyone have any BTDT?
Car is an 1988 Audi 90s, no other lights are out, haven't done any
electrical work or anything else to it that might be linked.
