things that make you go hmmmmm

OK now that I've got your attention &:-): I pulled the rear seat, the
spare wheel, and the trunk interior out of my '88 80Q (no Larry, it's not
a 4000) in preparation for a track event this weekend. Whoa! Just LISTEN
to that fuel pump now! At least, when I get the car going, you can't hear
it anymore because the tires are so noisy &:-). It was about 90 degrees
on Sunday when I finished bleeding the brakes and quickly washed the car
off before heading over to a party. Since it was so hot, I drove with the
air-conditioning on FULL BLAST; my resister is broken, so only 4th speed
works on the fan. The car actually had great power! Wow! Now I know where
the name "WhoopAss" Cola came from. And whoa! is the sound great from my
rear speakers now.

Anyway, I made a "boo-boo" (due to the heat, inattention, etc.) when I was
bleeding my last brake cylinder, the left front. I had the brakes bled
where I wanted them, and released the pressure out of the PowerBleeder.
For some darn reason, maybe I got my leftie-loosey mixed up with my
rightey-tightey, I opened up the brake cylinder again without the system
being pressurised, and about a tablespoon of fluid came out before I
woke up and realized what I just did. I then closed the line, pressurized
the system again to 20 psi, and then purposely bled more fluid out, hoping
that this would flush any air that might have gotten into the system. My
question is: Does this sound like a minor/forget about it problem, or is
there something else I should do to make sure I'm OK, with no air in the
system?

Second: getting back to the glove box: I would like to replace the fan
resistor, but I can't figure out the instruction in the Bentley for
removing the glove box. There are only 2 lines of instructions, and they
go something obscure like: "pull out and remove" the blahdeyblah. But the
picture shows screws coming out, and it doesn't really look like my glove
box. If I open the box (not pull it out), I can see one central screw (it
will need an internal hex to remove) with a clip kind of hiding in there.
But the picture shows two screws coming off the sides and they look like
traditional screws. Also, Bentley shows the glove box coming off after
the entire dash assy is out of the car. That's just for the book's
convenience, right? Is there anyone with an 80Q who can tell me where I'm
being dense?

Speaking of "huh", a friend told me one more way to get weight off and
more hp on my little track slut. Can any of you guess what it is? ? &:-)
