I've used the pounding grease method maybe 50 times on
American vehicles and it worked every time. Sometimes
on the first shot. I tried that Audi pilot bearing
for an hr. No dice. I had the Harbor freight puller
set in the basement still in the box. When I tried it
it came out on the second or third hit. Same thing
about 1 minute. I'll NEVER use that grease method
again except in an emergency. It's good to know how
to do it that way, but you're right about having the
right tools. It makes all the difference.
