If the noise is heard whether the clutch is engaged or not would mean the
clutch is bad, not the compressor. If the clutch isn't engaged, the
compressor isn't turning. Sounds like a bad clutch bearing to me.
As far as noise from the front..... Sounds like a classic wheel bearing...
But first... check the lug bolts.
Don't ask me how I know...
