... unless I am reading the post wrong somehow, the CA smog nazis will
probably not approve the transfer ... you did say you had dropped an engine
from an '87 car into an '88 ... nicht wahr? As I understand the rules this
is not allowed ... you have to use an '88 or newer engine ... it matters not
whether or not there were cars sold in 1988 with the same engine ...
... perhaps you might be able to sneak through by finding the emissions
sticker from an '88 and installing it on the car ... but don't tell them the
engine you installed was from an '87.
I tend to be a bit paranoid about this sort of thing, so it might fly just
fine ... but no matter what you should try to get the word from the horse's
mouth ... in writing if someone in an official capacity tells you that it is
OK ...
