Got a new '89 200 TQ with a zorched out Rad. fan and melted wires.

Well I guess im crazy! I just got a 89 200tq this week for $1K  with a
zorched out Rad. fan and melted wires.(Humm back to 5 cars again, 3audis,
Jeep and an Olds.) Got the fan ordered from Blau. Plan to start cutting in
to it this weekend. When I picked the car up the bat was mostly dead and had
enough juice to roll the window down to get out of the car once it was on my
trailer but couldn't get it back up after charging the bat I noticed that
the fuel pump runs continually. On the trailer I popped the hood and took a
peek at the fan and could see where the wiring had melted. Didn't look to
bad but where else should I be looking and what other problems should I be
looking for? Any BTDTs? Any websites on melted wiring?
