Bilstein sports or HD's for 5kcstq (front)?

Hello,

I'm considering some Bilstein's for my '88 5kcstq, and I was
wondering some things. I'm not going to be lowering the car this
go around, but I may in the future. Some have complained that if
you lower a Type 44, it increases the understeer. I know that if the
front suspension is stiffer than the rear, understeer will be
increased. I wonder if that is (true, and if so is it) a function of
geometry and/or spring rates.

Oops, I just thought of the answer to my own question. I was
going to ask if it is wise to put Sports on the front of my 5kcstq,
since they might increase understeer being stiffer than the HD's.
But they are supposed to be valved the same, and are only an inch
shorter. So, I guess it doesn't matter regarding understeer.

I can think of a different question. Would there be any harm in my
running Sports in the front of my 5kcstq, with the stock springs? I
can imagine that the springs might extend the strut slightly (an
inch?) beyond it's normal resting point. Would that be a bad thing?

Thanks,

Ken
