yeah, but I couldn't figure out what to say about them... they both have
their issues, though of course the trigger style have the obvious
breakage issue. the type 89 ones are nice and aerodynamic, and probably
harder to break into. They require a more awkward hand motion to open
in my opinion. and the flush handles break once in such a way that the
key will not work, but you also only have to repair them once (details
at Chris Millers site)
basically the balance tips toward the type 89 in this dept as well.
I could also mention the difference in wiper/washer function - the
washer squirts before the blades move, which means no more scraping a
dry windsheild with one swipe before the fluid gets on it.
type 89's have or can have added to them headlight washers as well, with
more ease than type 85.
some of them have ski sacks.
they have bigger rear brakes, and two piece strut housings.
the firewall is better connected to the front strut towers so they are
stiffer.
they come with hood struts, engine comp. lights, and some have decent
factory fog lights (once you replace the old lenses)
other than that they are the same car, with a few changes in
appearance...
