CGT axle questions

The '87.5 uses 10mm larger inner CV joints, so no, you can't put an earlier
year's driveshaft on the car.

Do you have a shop nearby that specializes in rebuilding driveshafts? I
know in my area I can get any driveshaft rebuilt in the same day, even if it
is an '87.5, for around $120 with *NEW* joints on both ends, not rebuilt
ones.

Otherwise, you can buy the joints at somewhere like the parts bin or parts
connection and hammer them onto the driveshaft yourself.

Your final option is to change the drive flanges on the transmission to
accept a smaller inner CV joint and use the older CGT driveshafts. Actually
it's not too tough to do.

The CGT shafts *are* different lengths, so you cannot swap sides. The only
type 85 that has same length driveshafts is a 5 speed manual coupled to a 4
cylinder.
