100 Eurolights

Taka -

As I recently went through with the list, I installed 100 euro lights
into my 5kcstq, replacing the DOT 200 lights. My old DOT lights had very
good reflectors and pretty good lenses. The euros have one good
reflector, one so-so, and both have very good lenses (came from the
junkyard).

The euros (with stock wiring and 55W bulbs) are not impressively
brighter than my DOT lights. Yes, the beam pattern is has a nice sharp
cutoff (at least on the one with the good reflector), and I do notice
that the light is even over the entire area. The DOT lights had a bright
spot in the middle but didn't illuminate to the sides well.

I think most people see a huge improvement with euros because they are
replacing old DOTs with brand new euros _and_ they're upgrading to
relays and sometimes higher wattage bulbs.

I'm now on the slippery slope of deciding to get reflectors re-plated
and getting relays... and inevitably a cheap junkyard project turns into
a real project.
