I agree with Bernards suggestion, you should check the archives, this
subject has come up several times before. It's also normal for the turbo
motor to take a few seconds to start, according to Audi Guru and Guiness
drinker Phil, it's the time necessary for the ECU to read and adjust for
startup before letting the dogs loose.
Here's a post of my original observations:
Most difficult part of the operation was removing the rusted phillips
screws from the cooling shroud, I have replaced said screws with 8mm
bolts to avoid the problem in the future. Problem of delayed
starting/rough running on startup have been solved by the injector
replacement. As an added bonus, the idle has come down a bit, must have
had a leaking seal or two also.
It still takes about 2.5 revolutions to start, but I THINK this is par
for the turbo motors. It was taking about 5-8 revolutions before, and
would run rough for 5-10 seconds afterwards. The '84 5KS on the other
hand starts with a tap of the ignition.
The parts suppliers usually put the injectors on their "specials" list
routinely, usually 5 injectors for $200.
