Andrew,
Interesting point- I wonder if the Avant was offered? Apparently,
it was on the order sheets with the 5-speed option, but I don't know
if that was a "phantom option" or not. Kind of like the '94 E34 M5-
I didn't think they existed in the US until Carter mentioned something
about there being a handful.

Well, I don't have "actual" information from Audi, but I spent quite a
long time in my quest for one of the few '00 A6 2.8 Saloons with a 5-spd.
I was told by the dealer that sold me mine that he never heard of any
Avants at all in that line with a 5-speed. If there were, I would have
bought one. I liked my '95 Avant, just couldn't take the autobox.
