I may have the answer to this in a few months. I am
trying to get my hands on an RS2 bumper that I can
mount an obscene intercooler in. I'm also looking
into doing the Turbonetics K03/K04 turbo upgrade after
I get a new intercooler. Anyone have $3000 they want
to donate to my quest for more speed fund? I know a
better intercooler will help, but I think some of the
restriction also comes from the metering plate and
airbox. I'm going to hack up my airbox again so I can
fit a large cone filter to it. I don't know if this
would work, but I've been thinking about a way to add
a small bypass tube to the intake that would allow
more air into the engine in very high boost like 20psi
aps only. It's been mentioned that the plate maxes
out at 14psi, well if you could allow more air to
still enter the engine while keeping the plate maxed,
then the additional injectors could keep on doing
their job properly, and you may be able to gain a few
more psi. It could be controlled by a pressure
switch, the WOT switch and may need to have a function
of RPMS in there.
Obviously EFI is still the better fix, but I'm as
cheep as the next guy or maybe it's from all the
"second hand smoke" at Red Rocks last weekend. Ok I'm
ready for criticism now.
