In Florida, most offenses are non criminal traffic infractions. Two
holdovers from the criminal days are  a speedy trial rule(180 days from not
guilty plea, assuming no defense continuances) and the burden of proof is
beyond and to the exclusion of every REASONABLE doubt. Most police officers
will not object to a reduction in court, providing you did not give them a
hard time. Many times you can leave the courthouse with a fine and court
costs, but no points and no driving school. HTH
