ABS warning apology continued

Sometimes my ABS will kick in (pulsating pedal) after backing up and 
applying the brakes for the first time that day.  It is very rare and 
intermittant and seems to happen only with a just-started and cold car.  It 
has been going on for a few years and is so rare that I forget about 
it--there is always so much else going on to capture my imagination and 
parania!  Is this a common symptom of a problem anyone knows about?
