Type $$ is testing me

speaking of character.. I think owning - no, let me rephrase that - keeping
a type 44 operational (albeit to varying degrees) is a sign of one's
mechanical prowess and creativity.. much like the boy scouts award badges
based on merit, so too should Audi owners wear the scars of their encounters
like badges of courage. Given the right car (*ahem* parked outside at the
moment - lifeless yet again *ahem*), a new owner could very quickly gather
these patches... one for CIS, another for electrical, one for driveline, a
really large one for pentosin / hydraulic, and we certainly can't forget the
first step - the doorhandle.
Between another lister (Matt B.) and I, we went from 2 semi-functional
5000's to *zero* in the span of about an hour this evening. Things got
complicated for a brief moment but the moral of the story is to check for
wires that may be held in place by zip ties as over time the tie may abraid
through the insulation and lead to a short.
For a good laugh, I'm thinking of bringing the car to the (not so) local
Audi dealer under the pretense that it was given to me by a relative and
that I want for them to look it over and give me an estimate of everything
that needed to be replaced and what the cost would be... something along the
lines of, "You know, just let me know what needs to be done to make it like
new" :-)
