You wouldn't consider skid pad tests as an all out attempt to find the outer
limits of the how the car handles? The GT had a higher slalom speed, high
lateral g-force, and is quicker to 60, 100, 1/4 mile, and has a higher top
speed. So, in that regard, it doesn't really matter if we're talking track
or road - either way, the GT is a faster car in the dry. On a gravel road?
Most people don't usually measure sports car or sports sedan performance
based on a gravel road, but hey, if that's your cake, then no one should hold
you back. As for the 5+5 vs. the GT, well...the GT is really a sedan with a
different body, and the body isn't what saves any weight, and perhaps only
helps on the top end, although that is mostly based on frontal area, gearing,
and horsepower, in which case the 4KQ and the GT are almost the same (the
longer gearing and raked front and rear screens help, for sure, but the
fronts are the same, so most of that advantage isn't felt...) Pesonally, I
just got the quattro so that I can do Sprongl-like donuts in snowy parking
lots. You can do them in the GT, and it sounds impressive and looks cool,
but just takes up too much space...

Later!
