Directionally confused Pirelli's

This is a bit mudane (I think), but too curious not to ask ....

Just noticed after getting the second pair of Pirelli P700z's on the Coupe
(first pair mounted 2000+ miles ago) that the tread patterns are opposite
for both the front and rear pairs.  They are matched across corners (LF
matches RR, RF matches LR).  Now I'm the kind of person that, just knowing
this inconsistency exists, am somewhat irritated.  Beyond that, should I
care?  Does it make any difference?  Doesn't look like the tires indicate a
prefered direction that they are to be mounted (not a true 'directional'
tire, I guess).  Discount Tire obviously didn't care which way they went, so
they went 50/50 each time I had a pair mounted!  Any thoughts?
