flaky breaky audi

1. For years my '87 5kcstq has an intermittant cold idle problem.   Not
always (of course) after starting the idle will fluctuate--often dying.
After 60 seconds or so, idles fine. Also, car coughs & chokes a bit for the
first few minutes if I hit the gas too hard. Once temp guage hits the "C",
it's fine.  Otherwise it's 1.3-4 bar, runs great, no weird noises, etc.

Always fires up fine, so I don't think it's the cold start valve. After much
investigating (read: sjm's site!) I'm guessing it's the warm up regulator.
Is this a gizmo that can be replaced w/a rebuilt unit? If so, does anyone
know of prices and sources?

2. Synth lube recommendations for gear box/tranny?

3. Dr. side rr. speaker is kaput. (the one visible from the trunk--there's a
lot of f***in' speakers in this car!). Anyone know of a good, reasonably
priced replacement?

PS: windshield scratch removal kit shipped today, yay! (basically a grinding
wheel and compound--isn't this the way Galileo made his telescope?) How
to/not to update to follow...
