This may only be "half an answer," but it is my understanding that one
is not supposed to leave hydraulic piston type things in the "up"
position at rest. IE, I drop my plow when not in use.
Leaving them up puts an incredible strain on the seals, etc.,
supposedly. Though my 250-odd pound plow is a much bigger thing for a
seal to cope with than the arm of a cherry picker!
