can i use the trip computer from '84 5kT in another car?

I think it's possible, but there are a whole bunch of sensors throughout the
car that you may need to add to the new car or put some sort of load on, so
it doesn't buzz all the time. There are sensors for oil pressure, light
circuits, fluid levels, etc. I'm pretty sure there's no tie-in w/ the ECU,
but you should check the wiring diagram for the car. Basically the system
consists of the read-out in the inst. cluster, the control box (behind dash,
above glovebox), and all the sensors. good luck.
