I wouldn't worry about the motor or head, don't forget its filled with
coolant, it would be tough to heat the block and head to any temp that would
actually damage them considering that. Just to be sure, though, you should
pull the head and have it surfaced as part of a rebuild anyway.
Two years ago I helped rebuild a 20v Coupe that had been in a similar fire,
there was no engine damage. I would treat the project like any other,
rebuilding and refreshing anywhere that is approproate, especially with
regards to gaskets and seals.

I'm about to take on another turbo conversion, this time with my 90q and
have some strange questions regarding the donor car. First of all, it's been
burned from the firewall or thereabouts. The fire burned all hoses and belts.
Melted the plastic pieces and stuff. Seems to have gotten pretty hot but the
aluminum isn't melted. I turned the crank as much as I dared, so as not to
make bad contact w/ valves and it did turn freely, well it did turn, no oil
and dry as you can expect. I intend to take it down quite a bit as Ill have
time anyway. Are there any items that could be unrepairable w/ this type of
heat? (other than seals and gaskets) What am I looking at? Also, the turbo
spins easily, really!
So I am excited about the whole project and I don't want to rush into
something that leads the wrong way, or causes issues later on. I intend to
use my ignition and 034 EFI as fueling so I don't need that stuff from the
car.
Any hints or assistance would be swell. Thanks,
Brandon Adams
