Hi Scott,

You are right about the turbo 5's being the hot setup for performance
upgrades. Your model/year isn't the only performance-upgrade
handicapped one tho'. The normally aspirated 5 cylinders also aren't as
easily uprated.

However, there's a guy named Mike Tipton that posts to the
Audiworld.com forums and sometimes here that has a V6 in a 90 that
has done some work to it. You can get cams and do some headwork.
Exhaust and intake too. I wouldn't expect a lot of improvement,
especially compared to the turbo cars.

Check out: http://home.ec.rr.com/miktip/

There was also a guy that fitted an Autorotor supercharger to that V6 in
the first generation A6. That guy/company had a site called
http://www.rimmersuperchargers.com, but I saw some stuff on the 'net
asserting some kind of problems with them (the guy or company) or
something. I have no personal experience with these folks, but they are
the only ones I'm aware of that have put together a supercharger
upgrade for the 12v V6. They used to have pics of the A6 supercharger
setup, but they took it down.

Maybe it was a 100CS I think it may have been.

You could buy an ur-S4 AAN motor/ecu/harness and put it in. Then
you'd have no problems in the performance department. About $4k plus
considerable installation effort. These guys are selling one:

If this thing would sell, then I can stop fantasizing about charging the
damn thing on a credit card and having a very fast car.

But with 61k on it, you migth want to just enjoy it for what it is.

With all the aftermarket EFI and turbo stuff going around on this list and
in the world, I think it would be cool to come up with a nice homebrew
twin-turbo setup for that car. I don't know what that would involve,
probably a complete standalone engine management system and some
custom manifolds.

Best of luck!

Ken
