it
cost to be made?>>
Well, it depends, parts are the relatively cheap part, about $400 or so of
stainless hydraulic pipe, turbo flange, and head flanges- but ensuring it
fits is the tricky part, the 10v is not an easy car to make a header for.
There is less than 1/16" of clearance between the intake manifold and the
header flanges, so the shape of the head flange is very critical, I had a
buch made out of water-jet-cut 3/8" stainless cold rolled steel.
Then the runners must clear the frame rail, as well as the intake manifold,
with less than about 1" to spare on each. The header thus must be very thin
and wide to fit into this relatively narrow space. The Audi Sport TA header
will NOT fit a Type 85/89 car BTW, I doubt it would fit any production Audi
easily, it runs right into the frame rail of most of them.
The wastegate must be precisely located, then fitting a downpipe is a whole
'nother story. Of course, this is only possible with EFI, as there is no
room for the airbox.

In order to ensure fit, I built the header on a spare head with intake
manifold, and I wouldn't recommend doing otherwise due to the lack of
crearance. Trying to measure and place cut little pieces of tube and expect
them to fall within + or - 1/4" is a long shot without actual fittament.
Plus, it should be welded bolten firmly in place, or it will warp terribly
and not fit. Like I said, I have extra flanges if you need any. I will post
more information soon.
