Hi Brendan;
ABS doesn't work very well at low speed on slippery surfaces - what you
experienced is typical. Try to come to a complete stop on an ice-covered
hill - you'll likely thump and crunch all the way to the bottom. That is why
the ABS on/off switch is a handy feature (which Audi has omitted since '93).
