I don't see how you can use the 'screwdriver trick' with the wastegate still in place, since you shove the screwdriver up the hot
end of the wastegate.
I strongly suspect some sort of transparent epoxy or Loktite is used on the upper nut - I've taken to giving it and the exposed
threads and damn good go with a wire brush and it really seems to help.
If you have a screwdriver slot underneath, it's mor elike a coin slot. You can grind down a draglink socket to fit - but I've never
had any success this way. The screwdriver trick rally works.
I have a special short FACOM ring (box) wrench that I lock on the three bolts. Then I get the nuts from below using a socket
mounted on a UJ wrapped in duct tape to give it some stiffness.
