Just wanted to do some quattro gloating after my safe return from a 500
mile+ round trip ski weekend in Central Oregon (Mt. Bachelor for those
familiar). Packed snow, frost, black ice, you name it, I drove through it,
and without a falter. Prior to the trip I opted to trade up to a set of
Blizzak studless snows over my old all-season tires, and the combination is
great. The grip makes winter driving just plain boring. Gotta love it.
I also want to plug the Hella driving lights for anyone who recalled my old
post on them. I bought a set of Hella Optilux driving lights to replace my
old fogs when one was stolen. On dark mountain roads, these lights are
invaluable. The only bummer is shutting them off for oncomming traffic and
returning to the scary DOT low beam... As an auxiliary light though -
they're great.
