By the time I was done (well early on actually) there was no old
diaphragm left ;-)

Not having air and impact tools (except one of those things you pound on
with a hammer) where I was working on the car, that wasn't a reasonable
option. Also, interestingly enough, was advice not to use air impact
wrench on Scott's site which I was using in conjunction with the
archives as a guide to assist. But despite that the thought (impact
wrench) crossed my mind.

In reality, one of your posts from the archives and Jim's recent post
that said to wedge upwards was what helped do the trick. (So thank you
as well Orin, unknowingly, your old post in the archives helped get it
done!) As fate would have it, it took me more time to reinstall the WG
securing nuts I had removed in process of removing the WG than it did to
do the diaphragm armed with new information. Done now, and, like most
things done the first time on this car, I am sure that I could do it
quicker and easier next time.

Thank you again to all who posted on this, it really did help!
