Hmmm... I guess that means my 15 year/190k mile old 5ktq with ten CV
joints is on borrowed time? ;-) To date, only one boot has split on this
car and the driveline is still as quiet and smooth as ever.
If CV grease as packed in quattro CV joints really only lasts 2 years I
have to believe there would be a whole lot more failures reported in
this forum. But, what would I know...I have only owned 62 Audi CV joints
(6 quattros and one CGT) in the last 14 years. To date I have replaced
one CV joint (main driveshaft front in a 132k old 4kq) and one boot (a
front outer on my current 5ktq some 4 years back now).
I'm sorry, but I can't buy that we should be repacking CV joints every
two years. Perhaps on a 914, but I never owned mine long enough to know.
I did put a lot of miles on two different 911s though, never had to on
them and never had CV joint troubles there either.
