Detecting brake line wear?

I strongly disagree with the statement that you'll never have to worry about
future replacements of SS brake hoses. There is a definite inspection
schedule for those things, and the non- DOT ones have a recommended
replacement time of around a couple of years. I see cars almost daily with
well over 200K miles on stock hoses, and most are still running the original
hoses, even at 15-20 years. Regular fluid changes and flushes, the use of
good quality fluid of the proper type, should make the OE style hoses last
far longer than the normal life span of the car. At my shop, I NEVER
install SS brake hoses on a street car. HTH, John
