Um-
The S4 is '92-94, S6 is '95-97.

The '95 changes included a different front end- hood, fenders,
bumper cover, headlamps, turn signals, front and rear badging,
solid headrests.

The '95.5 changes included RF keyless entry (as opposed to the IR
system in earlier cars), the 3-spoke "sport" steering wheel,
EDL instead of the locking rear diff, wide non-DIN standard radio,
16x7.5 Avus wheels.

Apparently, some cars do not strictly adhere to these differences,
esp. for the '95 model year- it seems as though there were some
running changes.

The '96 and '97 cars are Canadian-spec or are personal imports- these
years were not officially imported into the US.

My advice would be to disregard the actual model year of the car and
purchase the car that is in the best possible cosmetic and mechanical
condition that you can afford.
