1995 S4 vs S6

True, but there are legal '96 and '97 S6s here in the
States- the OBD-II requirements cannot be the entire story.
If not for '95, the '96 and '97 cars have the facility for
OBD-II or it must be a very easy retrofit.

In order to pass DOT/EPA, OBD-II is required. If it
were a major retrofit, these cars would be converted and
thus not legal.

I know of an OBD-II compliant '97 S6, personally.

That said, if you quoted more of my post, you would show that I
mentioned that the '96 and '97 cars are Canadian-spec and not
officially imported into the US.

You _will_ see '96 and '97 S6s advertised, esp. in places like
this list and s-cars.org. IMHO, the '97 is the most desirable
UrS- the latest updates and a strut tower reinforcement that is
not present in any other UrS. Of course, you'll have to replace
the shocks/springs to eliminate the Cadillac ride quality. :-)

In the US, the '95 S-car became the S6. For the '96 model year, to avoid
OBD II requirements, Audi imported the S-car as a 95.5. The 95.5's sat
on the lot, in some cases, through 1997.
