I made a typo in my previous message (keyboard bounce). VW Quantum Syncro's
AWD system is identical to the Audi 4Kqs. It's Quattro *I*. No viscous
coupling. In fact, no Audi quattros had ever used a VC system.
The Viscous coupling is used instead of a center differential on other
older VWs with AWD, and are primarily front drive until slip occurs.
The VC (which contains a fluid that is normally a "thin" fluid, until
there is a large speed differential, it suddenly becomes viscous)
then transfers torque rearwards.
