Carbon bike wheels too. One local guy had a set for a couple of years - he
had a habit of removing the tyre cement (racing tyres are stuck to the rims)
with solvent - eventually dissolved the resin which held the two halves of
the wheel together. The pieces were on show in my friend's shop for several
months.

Carbon frames and wheels fail and fail big time. Generally the consequences
aren't too bad but thats probably down to the low speeds (compared to a race
car) and lower weights. The only carbon parts on my bike are the brake
levers and I wasn't too sure about the idea of them to start with.
