I should have made myself more clear, and I do apologize. I was basically
referring to the 2.8L V6 engine being "old", as in Audi's no longer using it.
I used the A4 reference because I usally think of the Passout as bloated A4.
The valve and cylinder head design isn't old, by any means, it's just that
when you compare the 3.0 to the 2.8, the differences, especially from behind
the wheel, are, well, definite. The AWD systems are, as you stated, and I
think I stated, the exact same, and still in use in all the cars except the
TT.

Er, how do you figure on the car being "old" technology?

Isn't the B6 A4 still using quattro IV? I have no information to the
contrary, although you've got a better source of factory info based
 on your job. :-)

The Passat's 4Motion is _identical_ to quattro IV used in the B5 A4,
 the late C4 and C5 A6 and the A8.

The VW A4 chassis cars- Audi TT, Golf, Jetta, Beetle, all use the
Haldex system in the 4Motion cars (not to say that there is a Beetle
4Motion- I guess there is in the RSi).
