turbo internals: how to R&R sealing rings?

It is 2 metal rings in the groove of the spacer (or whatever that part is
called) which is going through backing plate. On the hot side 2 rings are in the
groove in on he shaft right after compressor wheel.   That's all.  It is not
obvious for me how it works.
