Hi All,
The "Snowmobile" - '87 5kTQ - is making a chirping noise mostly when warmed
up. I have searched the archives and only read about the water pump making
this sound when warming up.
Spraying belt dressing on the ps/alt belts had no effect (other than making
a mess)
Noise frequency is about 1.25/second
Increasing rpm to 3000 does not increase frequency (chirping is quieter,
however), but when returning to 1000 rpm idle chirp frequency increases (I'd
say, doubles) for a couple of seconds, before idle is stabilized at about
800/900 rpm.
(Side note - ya gotta love the sound deadening in these cars - I only hear
these warning sounds when I'm in the drivethru line....maybe I should turn
down the audiomechanic(TM) a bit...)
So - wasserpump? exhaust manifold? Turbo? Sparrows?
Cheers!
