1.8t motor swap

What makes the 1.8T tick *is* the electronics.  However, transplanting
that into a car not so equipped is going to be a very challenging
undertaking.  The ECU has fingers into everything... even the instrument
cluster.  Try sorting out that mess...!  It would be a lot more
straightforward (comparatively speaking) to put a MC or 3B into the type
89 car, even if all you want is 225hp.  It's about effort and cost vs.
the returns, and I'm afraid that a 1.8T swap isn't going to be as
good as a MC or 3B in that sense.
