It has been done, yes, a couple times. Shannon Fieler (sp?) did the job
just a while ago on his 88 90fwd, I believe. He has a photo album up at
photopoint, but it isn't working right now;

Seems to be pretty straightforward, with the exception of mounting it in
the engine bay. The motor mounts are all different for the 4 banger 1.8t
as opposed to, say the 20v 7A powerplant.

I have lots of messages regarding this swap from Shannon if you'd like me
to foward them. Also, there had been a nice discussion on the 20v list
about it. You can probably do a search at rennlist for the archives.
