1.8T swap

This motor has been successfully transplanted in many
older VW's using the factory ECU.  The fact that it
*can* be used to control the instrument cluster
doesn't mean it HAS to be!

There's no reason to go with an aftermarket ECU system
with the 1.8T motor unless you want added complexity,
loss of reliability and want to spend more money.

Use the factory ECU, everything will work out just
fine.
