You can easily put another few thousand into it, but
you may not be ahead of the market value of the car.
But you *may* have a car that is very nice to drive
and much better than anything else you can get for
$4,000. Have you looked at any other Audis than this
one? It may be educational.
My '89 200 TQ sedan had no leaks, a rebuilt steering
rack, new calipers, rotors and brake lines, new
suspension bushings, and drove tight as can be. It
showed 1.4 bar on the boost gauge. It had almost new
high performance tires. It came with a stack of repair
and maintenance receipts that totalled over $13,000
over the previous four years.
I paid $2900 for it, and thought I had a steal. I've
since put another $3,000 into it over the last 21
months. It still needs some work (shocks, driver's
seat heat, injectors), but it's now at the point where
I thought it was when I bought it.
