It's not bad.  It's just a mileage counter activated reminder
light that your oxygen sensor is due for replacement.
You *should* replace the sensor to ensure proper performance
emissions and economy.  Then, you can reset the light by pressing
a little button on the mileage counter box.

You don't state what year and model of car you have, but I assume
it's an 80s Audi with a mechanical speedometer.  The counter is
either inside the instrument cluster or under the hood near
the driver's side hood hinge.  In both cases it would be inline
with the speedometer cable.
