Nasty Service Tech (Allroad Fiasco)

This morning mum called several dealerships in the area to see who could
look at allroad first. Danbury was nice and they said the 2nd. New Country
said they were really busy and would get back to her. Classic Automobiles
was down right nasty about the situation. They said that transmission is
flawless and none have ever had any problems (ha!), plus they were too busy
to see a car that was bought at another dealership. Mum's mouth was on the
floor after that call and then she went into childhood helplessness mode,
poor mum.
So my sister devised a simple plan. I drive the allroad to RI to the
dealer where we bought it and they get to keep it until it's replaced or
fixed. She drove in the 5ks behind me zooting along in 6th gear, nice
novelty. I found that double clutching into 2nd and 3rd made the grinding
completely go away (was now grinding on up and downshifts), but no one
should have to double clutch a brand new $50k car. We talked to the
salesman, nice guy, and he got us a service advisor who got us a service
tech. The tech hopped into the car and I set out to grind some gears. Into
3rd it made a very loud grind in the parking lot and he winced exclaiming,
"Oh I see." We switched spots and he repeated the grinding over and over.
We left the car and expect it in tomorrow morning for diagnosis. The
service advisor said his new Passat did the same thing between 1st and 2nd,
all it was was a linkage issue. We'll see...
Though besides the grinding the allroad is so nice. Though I still
totally enjoy the 90, but in a different way. The allroad is nice and
responsive (good ABS brakes too; the line of cars in front of me came to a
screeching halt outside of New Haven, my sister rear ended the allroad!),
not as much as the S4, but it just seems like a powder puff compared to the
90. I hop in the 90 and it feels just as responsive but stiffer and more
gruff, which I like. Now get me that V6tt engine in the 90 and I'll be
happy!
Cheers!
