Having never seen one up close+personal, I suspect its just your
average chip hall sensor potted into the body of the sensor assembly;
that would be a mess to try and repair, but not completely impossible.
If someone is willing to donate a toasted hall sensor, I'd be happy
to take a shot at getting one apart and seeing about a repair. I've
taken apart a good number of Audi valves and parts, from
multifunction temp sensors to O2 sensors to wastegate freq valves,
even a MAF sensor. I love a good challenge :-)
If someone has a digital camera and a sensor lying around, working
or not, and can get some very closeup(macro) shots of the part from a
few different angles, that'll help me start thinking about how to rip
the sucker apart.
Assuming the chip is the failure item, if I can get to the actual
sensor chip itself without damaging it and by some miracle it has
markings on it, we -might- be able to find either a)the original b)an
equal replacement or c)something better...
