Why not catogorize the cars as Audi does, that is, by its platform.  So you
would have in the early 90s  A-2 (which would include the S-2), A-3, A-4
(and the US equivalent) ect ect... when classifying the older cars use the
Type 44 or 89 or whatever it would be.  A type 44 in the us or in germany is
still a type 44 with some differences to be sure but still essentially the
same car for the registrys purposes.  Otherwise you will have 9 million
different catagories and people all saying you forgot this and that.  And as
someone else suggested, why not put the special cars, ie Javad's 80 tq in a
modified section.
