A couple more things to check:
1.  Old dist. cap and rotor + moisture = arcing.  Look
for black tracks inside the cap.  Fix:  replace cap
and rotor.
2.  Old plug wires + moisture = arcing to intake
manifold or whatever else they touch.  Get a spray
bottle one night and look for the light show.  Fix:
replace the plug wires.
