Yes, I was.
A further note about the I5s. Those that nominally exceed 200bhp -
starting with the RR - use different upper and lower big end shells.
The upper shells are supposedly sputtered and cost four times what
the lower ones cost. On some engines (e.g., the ur-S4 AAN) the main
crankshaft bearings get the same treatment.
When I stripped my MC-2 after nine months with Scott Mockry's ooomph
I found the shells worn asymmetrically - all of the upper big end
shells had crescent-shaped wear patterns with the curve of the
crescent facing forwards. I know the engine was run for five hours
with zero compression in #1 - was this the cause, or did I exceed
the capability of the shells?
Has anyone found 20V-type shells for the 10V engines?
