John Shost asked why would I not want torque to be proportional to
throttle position?
In my opinion, especially at low revs, normally aspirated engines do not
make noticeably more power in the last part of the throttle opening. In
fact with carbs it can kill power, why street Hollies have vacuum
secondaries and SU style constant depression carbs work so well.
So my feeling is the opposite, why would I want to go wot to achieve
more torque.
My set up is still proportional to throttle position, just more
sensitive at less than half. It feels much more like a larger
displacement motor which I am now addicted to.
Different subject, extended oil change periods, recent article in
Automotive Engineering described synthetic oil developed and being
tested in over the highway heavy duty diesel trucks for 150,000 miles
between changes. think it was mobil, exceeded Euro and American
standards. Viscosity increase from soot was the limiting factor. I feel
safe with my twice per year synthetic changes.
