stabilant: chickened out at napa, will try vw dealer

I choked a bit when the counter guy said "$55" for the little 15ml 
bottle of Stabilant 22a at Napa today.  Since I didn't have any 
specific problems to diagnosed, I decided to shop around if 
possible.

I just was reading about it in the q-list archives and in the archives 
of some alfa group.  I think it would be a good idea to go through 
some or all of the connections on my 5kcstq.  I noticed the turn 
signal blinking sometimes seems weak.  Is this something I would 
fix with contact enhancer like stabilant?  Has anyone tried that 
cheaper alternative mentioned in the archives,
