I did some experimenting today and found the answer to the question I posted
earlier.
For those who haven't ventured into it's interior, the regulator adjusting
screw is accessible once the bottom plate is removed (4 screws). Remove them
carefully as the spring inside will scatter parts far and wide. This exposes
a very fine thread 4 mm allen screw that can be used to adjust the pressure
range of the regulator.
My first test was to turn the screw 2 turns (out) CCW. This resulted in
pressures lower than stock (10 vs 13 cold, & 36 vs 51 warm). Those are PSI
J.C.Whitney fuel gauge numbers. The car ran OK with better off line torque,
but the exhaust smelled too rich. The plugs showed light chalky gray.
Secondly, I turned the crew (in) CW 1 turn (360 degrees) from stock. Running
was not substantially different, but the pressures went slightly over stock,
and the motor felt crisper (quicker throttle response), but not more power.
Suspecting the WOT switch for the intermittent hesitation, I ran some speaker
wire with a simple on-off switch to the cockpit from the WOT switch wires.
Test driving with the bypass switch closed gave good full throttle
performance. The WOT switch has checked out perfectly in the garage time
after time. Go figure.
In summary, the FPR is adjustable, and quite sensitive to same. Clockwise=
higher pressure, Counterclockwise= lower pressure.
I agree with another lister that they probably work, or don't work. They are
a pass/fail.... USUALLY.
